Learning Resource Centre

The Hislop College Learning Resource Centre is one of the oldest Learning Resource Centre in Vidharbha. The contribution of this learning resource centre to the academic and secular life of the people of this region has been incalculable.

Library has to play a positive role in shaping new trends of education by providing infrastructure, information, concepts and motivation to its readers in the form of valuable reading materials and effective library services.

We follows the 5 laws of Library & Information Science stated by Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, father of Library and Information Science.

1st law is – Books are for use
2nd law is – Every Reader and his / her book
3rd law is – Every book & its Reader
4th law is – Save the time of the users as well as the staff
5th law is – Library is growing organism

These laws are very useful while providing the Library services to the users.

The Salient Features of the LRC

The Learning Resource Centre has a wealthy collection of more than 75000 books including a number of rare volumes.

The Centre subscribes to 43 journals covering all the three faculties of instruction. A good majority of these journals are international. The high number of journals are a reflection of our research aptitude and the growing importance of research in the outlook of the institute.

Keeping with the latest trends, the Centre boasts of an e-library with 21 computers containing a great wealth of webpages from various teaching and learning resources worldwide. A broadband internet connection allows these computers to access journals online for faster dissemination of information.

There are two reading rooms with a capacity of at least 150 students. There is a separate reading room for research scholars.

Apart from the Central Library, all PG Departments have their own Departmental Libraries. Several of them have their own reading room facilities too.
